THE POSITION



The Capital Project Services (CPS) Division of the Land Use and Transportation Department is recruiting for two Engineering Technician IIs to join the team!

The Position
The CPS Division is responsible for multi-million dollar transportation improvements projects. The Engineering Technician II is an inspection person responsible for tasks related to the construction of transportation facilities, examples of duties include but are not limited to:
  • Road and bridge construction project inspection
  • Inspection for traffic signal installation
  • Inspection of underground utilities work
  • Review of plans and specifications
  • Tracking and calculating quantities on construction projects, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications, and conducting site investigations
  • Responding to citizen concerns.

Ideal Candidates
The ideal candidates will need to possess the knowledge and confidence to be a field technician on County capital transportation construction projects. The candidates will have knowledge in various aspects of major road construction, bridges, complex retaining walls, traffic signal installation, and underground utility installations. They must be able to problem solve and look for opportunities for improvement; they must have the ability to read and review project plans and specifications and must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Two (2) years of responsible experience in road construction, road construction inspection, construction management, civil engineering, traffic engineering, or surveying, and work experience in an office or field setting; OR
  • An Associate's Degree in civil engineering or related field.

  • A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
