Position Title: Engineering Technician

Job Location: Munster IN 46321

Duration: 12 Months with possibility of extension

Shift hours: 08:00 to 05:00

Job Description:

Supports engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry or specialized test equipment. Applications may include analog, digital and/or video circuits, and logic systems.

Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.

Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment.

Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.

Assists in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment.

Uses manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.

Frequently interacts with peers and customers to exchange or present factual information. Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.

Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments.

Duties:

Able to perform mechanical and electrical assembly effectively

Able to perform component level diagnostics and circuit tracing

Able to develop limited desktop testing techniques as necessary to validate known circuits

Able to perform Advanced electrical diagnostics on subassemblies, whole units and individual circuits

Have excellent solder skills for through hole and surface mount component electronics.

Able to mentor and advise less experienced technicians. Provide work instructions to complete necessary work and perform quality assessments of others work before final testing.

Able to cross reference electrical components for functional equivalent devices that are no longer available.
