Position Title: Engineering Technology Coordinator
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for the recommendation, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the global Case & Tray design engineering CAD technology, including CAD software and associated templates and customized software tools, applications, and integrations; product data management and hardware standards and processes for the use of engineering CAD technology in design and development. Responsible for developing training material and for training design engineers on processes and applications at all sites where case and tray design is performed. Creation and/or deployment of software (including customizations), tools, and processes for design engineering and programming (as applicable) to support process efficiency and solve production problems relating to materials, processes, machining, and/or fabrication and tooling. Supports new product introduction by developing new processes and assisting with the designing of case and tray products and development of production controls.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Passionately lead adoption of engineering CAD technology including tools and processes through collaboration with all stakeholders across the organization.
- Create and maintain the Case & Tray design engineering drawing templates, start parts, standard parts, and file directory structure.
- Responsible for the creation, maintenance, and integrity of Pierceton Case & Tray models, drawings and programs and the file system. Lead upgrades to file storage method / system to drive enhanced integrity and access speed between global Case & Tray design teams.
- Establish and maintain Case & Tray design engineering best practices and deploy standardization at all Case & Tray design sites. Ensure standard process allows for seamless transfer from design to manufacturing for: PCZ to PCT, PCT to PCZ, PCZ to PCZ, and PCT to PCT.
- Serve as global Case & Tray Siemens NX administrator. Responsible for activities including but not limited to license selection, routine software upgrades, configuration, and customization.
- Lead systemic design engineering changes, such as Master Part Modeling and standard use of k factors for bent part design, to align Case & Tray design organizations to industry best practices.
- Manage hardware selection, configuration, deployment for Pierceton Case & Tray engineering team and establish hardware standards to support global Case & Tray design engineering as well as for other engineering team members including programming, project management, manufacturing and quality engineering. Maintain standards in alignment with software upgrades and performance needs.
- Collaborate with NPI Design Engineering Lead and Sustaining Design Engineering Lead to establish and maintain procedures for new product release and engineering change notices using an electronic document control system.
- Responsible for creation, maintenance, and training to the Case & Tray Design Guidelines to drive standardization for part numbering, design, poka yoke, materials, K factor, drawing dimensioning, etc.
- Drive automation and process efficiencies for Case & Tray design engineering, programming, Visual part creation and engineering master data entry and maintenance, etc. through creation of model, drawing, program & Visual relationships.
- Support creation and updating of work instructions, as required, for process and software implementation (ex: Greenlight Guru, CADLink, etc.).
- Determine verification / validation plan for new or upgrades software prior to deployment. Assist in performing verification / validation activities, as required. Communicate with, collaborate with and work effectively with design engineers, programmers, production, purchasing, planning, customer service and management staff at Pierceton and China Case & Tray locations.
- Identifies, scopes and leads implementation of new software (i.e., CADLink, Siemens Teamcenter, etc.) and/or software upgrades for Case & Tray engineering to drive improved team efficiency and collaboration.
- Collaborate with IT team, as required, to drive hardware and/or software implementation and verify utility and effectiveness for use based on stakeholder inputs and documented requirements.
- Identify process improvement opportunities in the Case & Tray design and NPI process, develop and implement methods for improved efficiency that drive continued improvement and/or standardization of the Case & Tray design, programming and/or new launch areas.
- Occasionally support Pierceton Case & Tray NPI projects in a Senior Design Engineer role.
- Develop training material and train to empower design engineers in the use of CAD technology and associated best practice processes.
- Support development and training of Associate Design Engineers on Case & Tray design processes and applications.
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION:
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in engineering related field required. Equivalent years of work experience in lieu of a degree may be considered. Minimum 5+ year's experience in design engineering; case & tray medical device industry experience preferred. Senior level CNC design engineering experience with the ability to write computer language for Unigraphics required.
