Akkodis is recruiting for an Automotive Environmental Validation Engineer for a manufacturer in the Troy, MI area. This is an onsite contract position with a pay rate of $45 hour to $53 an hour depending on education, experience and location.
Install the clients products in the test and data capture vehicles
Governance of test execution as per the specification using lab equipment (using thermal chambers, IPx) supported by lab operations technical support
Proficient in using environmental test equipment, hot, cold, wind to analyse and validate automotive components.
Participate in the setup definition (BOM) to be used for In-Vehicle testing, scene capture and data logger requirements based on actual client standard and/or new technologies.
Support the test engineers in troubleshooting of test equipment and client systems
Soldering tasks to repair, rework or update camera ECUs / PCB’s
Build various harnesses
Design and build ECU flash programming fixtures via. in-circuit test interface. Develop post-build follow-up, tests and repairs of these fixtures.
Build, maintain, and troubleshoot system test engineering workstations.
Support the team with test drives

Education/Training Associates Degree in Electronics or related field
Skills and Abilities Shall be able to read and design schematic circuits.
Shall be able to use electronic equipment and tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply etc)
Shall be able to use computation packages (Word, PowerPoint, email etc)
Shall have great communication skills
Experience with CAN communication monitoring devices, ADAS, GPS reference systems a plus.
Experience with data logger devices like: Velodyne, LuxMeters, CAN gateways, Vector data logging, etc is a plus.
Experience in using National Instruments PXI hardware is a plus.
Professional Experience 5 years experience in a similar role, experience with soldering, repair/rework of PCBAs, wiring, and test setups.
Automotive experience preferred
Experience with vision systems (camera, imager technology, radar, lidar) preferred
Shop tool experience (band saw, grinder, pedestal drill, mill, lathe etc.) preferred
3D printing /CNC machining experience preferred
