The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Professional is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations within a beverage manufacturing environment. This role will promote a culture of safety, ensure regulatory compliance, minimize risks, and drive continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance.Key ResponsibilitiesHealth & SafetyDevelop, implement, and manage site-specific safety policies, procedures, and training programs.Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.Ensure OSHA compliance and serve as the primary contact for health and safety inspections or audits.Lead the Safety Committee and serve as the champion for employee safety engagement.Track, analyze, and report injury metrics and trends; implement corrective actions as needed.Develop job hazard analyses (JHAs) and ensure proper PPE use and ergonomic practices.Oversee emergency response planning, including drills and evacuation protocols.Environmental ComplianceEnsure compliance with EPA, state, and local environmental regulations including waste management, air and water permits, and hazardous materials handling.Maintain accurate environmental records and prepare required reports (e.g., Tier II, TRI, SPCC, stormwater).Coordinate waste management and recycling programs in accordance with regulatory standards.Monitor and manage energy usage, wastewater discharge, and air emissions to reduce environmental impact.Training & CommunicationProvide ongoing safety and environmental training for all employees, including new hire orientation, annual refreshers, and task-specific instruction.Communicate EHS policies and updates effectively across all departments.Train supervisors and managers on safety leadership and compliance responsibilities.Continuous ImprovementLead root cause analysis and implement preventive measures following incidents or near misses.Recommend and implement best practices for EHS programs to improve performance and efficiency.Stay current with industry EHS trends and regulatory updates; recommend necessary changes to site practices.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field required.3+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment (food or beverage preferred).Proven experience managing OSHA and EPA compliance programs.CertificationsCSP, CIH, CHMM, or other relevant certifications preferred.Skills & AbilitiesStrong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state/local EHS regulations.Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHS management software.Working ConditionsWork is performed in a manufacturing plant and office environment.Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods and respond to emergencies as needed.Occasional exposure to noise, chemicals, and machinery requiring use of PPE.Performance MetricsTRIR/DART ratesEHS audit scores and closure ratesCompletion rate of training programsIncident response and corrective action timeliness
