The Department of Environmental Protection is actively searching for an individual who shares this commitment. If you are looking to advance your professional journey, the Cambria District Office of the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation eagerly awaits your application!


In this position, your main responsibility will be to inspect construction and materials for various types of projects, including civil, environmental, and mine reclamation projects. Your role will involve ensuring that the entity performing the work follows all permits, plans, specifications, and Department policy. You will need to drive to different site locations to conduct inspections and have a thorough understanding of the contract plans, specifications, permits, and policies in order to enforce them. You will also be responsible for accepting or rejecting materials and workmanship based on whether they meet the contract or permit requirements. Additionally, you will inspect the installation and maintenance of erosion and sedimentation control devices to ensure they conform to approved plans and permits. If any issues are identified, you will take corrective action and issue Notice of Violations to ensure compliance with permit conditions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position reports to project sites within Western PA counties which includes Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Cambria, Cameron, Clarion,
    Clearfield, Elk, Fayette, Indiana, Jefferson, Somerset, Washington and
    Westmoreland counties.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of construction inspection experience on heavy construction projects such as dams, flood control projects, mine reclamation projects, treatment plants, hazardous waste projects, airports, highways or utility installations; or
  • An Associate Degree in Building Construction Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirement:

  • All positions require possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.

Other Requirements:
