Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in environmental compliance, regulatory affairs, or sustainability leadership.
- Skills:
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting processes.
- Proficiency in project management with the ability to work on multiple projects in a team setting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in environmental management software and data analysis tools.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) are a plus.
Responsibilities
1. Environmental Compliance
- Monitor and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including those related to air quality, water quality, waste management, and hazardous materials handling.
- Conduct audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
- Stay updated on changes in environmental regulations and implement necessary updates proactively.
2. Regulatory Affairs
- Interact with regulatory agencies, respond to inquiries, and manage permit applications, renewals, and reporting processes.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of environmental laws and regulations applicable to the industry.
- Develop and manage relationships with regulatory agencies and industry associations.
3. Sustainability Initiatives
- Contribute to the development and implementation of sustainability programs, such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, and carbon footprint minimization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed sustainability practices into daily operations.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) and progress towards environmental goals.
4. Environmental Risk Management
- Assess and mitigate environmental risks related to company operations.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of emergency response plans for environmental incidents.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on best practices and safety protocols.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a liaison for environmental inquiries from customers, suppliers, and community members.
- Foster positive relationships with environmental advocacy groups and community organizations.
