Epic Operations Project Analyst Apply
We are seeking an Epic Operations Project Analyst who will be responsible for the day-to-day activities and tasks assigned to support Epic for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. The successful candidate is responsible for the technical maintenance of the application and complex, department related, problem resolution. Serves as the functional system expert, developing problem-solving strategies, investigating unique/first time instances of system problems, and working with faculty and Administration to optimize Epic functionality for Orthopaedic Surgery users.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages all template work for Orthopaedic Surgery, to include, but not limited to, building new templates, modifying existing templates (e.g. visit type pattern, slot lengths, number of slots), acting on approved template change requests, submitting JIRA and ClearCut requests, etc.
- Maintains a full knowledge of scheduling operations and acts as a resident expert on issues relating to Advanced Scheduling and other Epic Cadence functionality.
- Understands, emphasizes and supports JHM Template and Protocol Best Practices and guidelines, ensuring all template and protocol changes align with best practices.
- Understands and supports each of the Orthopaedic Surgery Division's Decision Tree enhancements, partnering with Access Services to manage their development and maintenance.
- Identifies, develops and implements enhancements to identified areas of Epic functionality within The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery clinical areas.
- Evaluates clinical workflows and partners with Faculty and staff to design solutions in Epic that will address identified challenges. Proactively identifies issues and solutions whenever possible.
- Provides additional on boarding training to new staff and faculty.
- Provides operational support for Epic by providing status on requests, prioritizing tasks or working with management, and Central EPIC teams to identify and resolve end-user issues.
- Configures and modifies clinical documents, exam elements, and other relevant aspects of Epic to best meet the end-users' needs.
- Defines, runs and creates reports in Epic needed to assess billing, clinical and administrative performance. Serves as an internal Epic training resource for Orthopaedic Surgery faculty and staff.
- Works with Johns Hopkins programmers to ensure existing and new Orthopaedic Surgery applications are interfaced with Epic.
- Supports Access Services with the management of smart source letter edits, scheduling questionnaire improvement, scheduling error reports.
- Serves as department lead during EPIC upgrades, large builds, and interface changes.
- Ensures compliance to template and visit standards.
- Serves as an additional ECPS enrollment specialist.
- Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Business or a related field. Master's Degree preferred.
- Three years related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
- Knowledge of EPIC system and Project Management skills.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.
