This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to Warren Technical Center three times per week, at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role:
The Enterprise Product and Manufacturing Systems (EPMS) organization is a newly formed team whose mission is to increase the collaboration across manufacturing and product engineering teams. Our focus is to improve vehicle profitability by identifying areas where requirements, designs, and other cross-functional activities have led to decisions that may not have the entire enterprise costs in mind. The team drives a high amount of collaboration across program teams, product component and subsystem engineering, vehicle design, manufacturing engineering and planning, purchasing and vehicle packaging. The team is challenging the limits on what is possible and embracing agility as it reimagines how to build with maximized profits the next generation of vehicles. Our diverse team plays a crucial role in transforming our business through implementing ground-breaking technologies and re-imagining the standard process and businesses to move us to the next generation of product development and manufacturing.
As a EPMS Program Engineering Manager, you will be performing the critical role of identifying and integrating the needs of cross-functional organizations to identify profitability solutions, while changing the way we run our business and organizations! What You'll Do:
You will be responsible for evaluation of designs, processes, packaging and assembly of vehicles as well as creating business cases that provide positive enterprise costs positive EBIT to vehicle programs. An understanding of both product and manufacturing engineering is desired in this role, as the interdependency of the product and manufacturing designs and processes are the basis for finding improved profitability within the EPMS team. You will have the opportunity to apply your experience to change or create new requirements and processes that you think are more impactful. You will evaluate options from a total enterprise perspective to ensure the investment required meets a positive total enterprise profit for the company.
The EPMS PEM is a direct report to the EPMS Chief Engineer. The EPMS team works cross-functionally among product, program and manufacturing teams which will require building crucial relationships across the enterprise. You will have the opportunity to share your success through regular interaction with Product, Manufacturing leadership as well as Senior Leadership forums with Vice Presidents across the enterprise. We will rely on you to effectively elevate issues and drive issue resolution throughout your work as an EPMS PEM.
Additional Job Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Qualifications):
Bachelors Degree (Technical Degree Preferred)
7+ years of experience
Component or Subsystem Release Engineering experience
Knowledge of GM manufacturing processes
Knowledge of vehicle packaging and integration of subsystems
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build effective teams, work cross-functionally, teach, and effectively influence without direct authority
High level analytical thinking and results orientation with relentless pursuit of waste reduction
Embrace ambiguity and challenge the status quo, where appropriate to reduce costs and complexity while maintaining quality
DFSS Green Belt Certification
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Plant and/or product launch experience
Project management experience
Vehicle development, validation and/or integration experience
Knowledge of GVDP. Global Vehicle Development Process.
Complete vehicle systems knowledge and the ability to review design or process proposals
