Job Description
A reputable California-based Title Company is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Escrow Officer to fully own the closing process for a variety of real estate transactions. You will be the central driver for every closing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and a smooth experience for all parties involved, while setting the standard for exceptional client service.
You will be expected to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the unique "licensed" or "controlled" escrow requirements specific to California, adhering to the high consumer protection standards enforced by the state.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full, end-to-end escrow process for diverse residential and commercial real estate transactions.
- Prepare, review, and finalize all critical closing documents and escrow instructions with meticulous accuracy, ensuring full compliance with the California Escrow Law (Financial Code Division 6).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders, including lenders, real estate agents, attorneys, and clients, coordinating instructions to facilitate a timely close.
- Proactively troubleshoot complex transaction issues and ensure strict adherence to all title industry regulations, California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) requirements, and company auditing standards.
- Maintain meticulous transaction files and records necessary for internal and regulatory audits.
Required Qualifications
- Proven success with 2-5 years of experience as an Escrow Officer in California is strongly preferred.
- Deep, functional expertise in California title and escrow procedures, best practices, and regulatory compliance, particularly relating to licensed or controlled escrows.
- Experience with industry-leading software (e.g., SoftPro, RamQuest, Qualia, or ResWare).
- Exceptional organizational skills, detail-orientation, and a demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of multiple files simultaneously.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and collaborative problem-solving abilities are essential.
Preferred Qualification
- Book of Business: -Candidates bringing a small, existing book of business will have a -negotiable salary and compensation structure (not required).
