Position Summary

The Estate Host works in unison with all departments, providing exceptional customer service while offering a welcoming and memorable experience to our business clients and guests. The Estate Host will be responsible for helping communicate the uniqueness of the winery through a consistent and impactful brand message.


Position Responsibilities

  • Serve as an ambassador of the company, exemplifying excellence in customer service.
  • Coordinate and confirm all incoming guest reservation requests via phone, Cellar Pass and email in a gracious, timely manner.
  • Responsible for scheduling and choreography of appointments to ensure that the flow is appropriate for the space restrictions of the tasting room.
  • Welcome visitors and guests; direct guests appropriately for both scheduled and walk in appointments.
  • Provide facility information and general assistance on the phone to both guests and clients.
  • Assist in preparing tasting room daily tasting and event schedules for winery staff.
  • Build new and retain existing ambassadors through engagement, follow-up, and by providing outstanding customer service with all customer interactions.
  • Describe tasting room options with accuracy and enthusiasm to guests.
  • Manage reservations and seating to maximizing traffic. Aware of table availability, anticipates business flow and guest location. Communicates with managers.
  • Consistently captures guest data at reservation, confirmation, and arrival.
  • Internal and external communication through reservation email and phone line. Checks and returns emails and voicemails in a timely manner.
  • Communicates tasting room traffic levels and VIP guests with traffic controller.
  • Utilizes reservation software and keeps it accurate and up to date.
  • Assigns tables to wine educators within their pre-determined sections.
  • Keep merchandise neat and stocked.
  • Communicate guest reservation information to wine educators, utilizing chit system.
  • Other duties to support team as needed, including; delivering food, using POS to process orders, and pouring and describing wine.
  • Support onsite events.

Requirements

  • Able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to function and communicate effectively under pressure while exemplifying grace and poise.
  • Must be punctual and reliable.
  • Very strong understanding of the English language.
  • Fast paced, customer facing work environment.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and non-traditional business hours including evenings, weekends and holidays required.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Success Factors/Job Competencies

  • Prior hospitality and customer service experience recommended.
  • Professional personal presentation.
  • Must be enthusiastic with excellent customer service skills, enjoy working with people and possess a friendly, outgoing, and positive personality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively in a polished, professional, and friendly manner is required.
  • Must have ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, adapt, and show flexibility to changing job requirements.
  • Knowledge of Paso Robles wineries, restaurants and hotels is a plus.
  • The ability to speak French and/or Spanish is a plus.

The compensation for this position is $16.00/hr. This position is eligible to participate in the tip pool at DAOU.
