We are seeking a detail-oriented and resourceful Estimating Engineer to join our metal fabrication team. This role is key to ensuring accurate, competitive, and profitable project bids by analyzing customer requirements, interpreting technical drawings, and calculating costs for materials, labor, and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret blueprints, CAD files, and technical specifications.
  • Determine fabrication methods, material requirements, and production timelines.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, subcontracted services, and overhead.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and production teams to clarify requirements and optimize designs for cost efficiency.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of material prices, labor rates, and fabrication technologies.
  • Prepare and submit formal quotations to customers within required deadlines.
  • Track and analyze historical job data to improve future estimating accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of estimating experience in metal fabrication or manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes (cutting, forming, welding, finishing).
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office; CAD experience preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and communication skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and cost-analysis skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
