Summary/Objective PFM, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with new and existing construction projects. The Construction Estimator will play a crucial role in project planning, budgeting, and ensuring the successful execution of each project. Essential Functions
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and specifications.
- Review project plans, blueprints, and other documentation to accurately estimate materials, labor, and equipment costs.
- Create detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, subcontractors, and other project expenses.
- Identify and quantify potential risks and opportunities that may impact project costs.
- Research and analyze market trends, material costs, and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
- Prepare and present estimates to clients, including detailed breakdowns of costs and timelines.
- Assist in the preparation of bid documents and proposals, ensuring compliance with project requirements and specifications.
- Collaborate with procurement and vendor management teams to secure competitive pricing for materials and services.
- Maintain accurate records of project estimates, budgets, and expenses throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor and track project costs, providing regular updates to project stakeholders as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a construction estimator and scheduler, ideally with PFM projects.
- Minimum three years of construction experience.
- Proficiency in construction estimation software such as Bluebeam, Procore, or similar, as well as scheduling software like Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, costs, and project management principles.
- Ability to interpret complex project documents and specifications, identifying schedule risks and developing mitigation plans.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and organized with a focus on accuracy in estimating, forecasting, and scheduling.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, permitting processes, and certification as a Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar credential are desirable.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
