Role Description We are seeking a full-time Estimator based in Bellwood, IL to join our growing team. Vader Estimators are analytical, proactive individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and take pride in delivering accurate, detailed, and timely estimates. They possess a strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and market conditions. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent communication, mathematical, and organizational skills who can work independently while contributing to a team environment. This individual combines technical knowledge, strategic thinking, and a commitment to excellence to support Vader’s continued growth and success. Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities Contribute to strategic initiatives Keep current on new labor-saving items introduced to the industry and related matters Electronic document management Estimate projects from start to finish, thoroughly and on time Attend pre-bid meetings and walk-throughs prior to bid Obtain pricing from vendors on projects and ensure that sufficient pricing has been received for comparison purposes Be aware of current pricing of material Write proposal / qualification letters for projects being bid After award of project, assist in breakdown of estimate information into categories required for the project manager Electrical estimating based on walk-throughs and plans & specifications Quick, detailed budgets, and comparing project schedule to estimate Develop budgets and estimates / proposals, and enter data into estimating software Develop and maintain relationships with customers, vendors and team members Provide quality customer service to internal and external customers Distribute information to suppliers for pricing as directed Create supplier and subcontractor scope sheets Organize bidder’s lists and complete bid solicitation to suppliers and subcontractors Organize the distribution of drawings and specifications to subcontractors and suppliers Analyze subcontractor proposals for accuracy and completeness Assist with change requests / change orders on active projects Assist other divisions as needed Minimum Knowledge and Experience 3-20 years electrical estimating experience Knowledge of electricity and electrical industry codes/guidelines Understanding AccuBid Estimating & Revu Bluebeam Takeoff Software Be productive and provide good quality work with minimum direct supervision High level of speed and accuracy in work Takes initiative, displays a strong work ethic and maintains a positive attitude Visits to jobsites in the local area are required Possibility of traveling to jobsites nationally may be required Skill Requirements Self-directed and motivated Punctual and dependable Conscientious and goal oriented Ability to work independently, prioritize and meet deadlines Teach and learn Strong client-facing and teamwork skills Listen and understand as related to estimating and construction industry Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time management Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, and attention to detail Compensation Anticipated salary: $80,000–$180,000 per year The anticipated salary range for this position reflects our good‑faith estimate at the time of posting.
