Summary:

We are representing a reputable commercial general contractor seeking an experienced Estimator to join their growing preconstruction team. The Estimator will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates for a range of commercial projects, including ground-up builds, tenant improvements, retail, office, education, and healthcare. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with project managers, architects, and trade partners in a collaborative environment focused on precision, teamwork, and long-term success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for commercial projects at various design stages

  • Review drawings, specifications, and addenda to define scope and assess constructability

  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs across multiple trades and disciplines

  • Solicit, analyze, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals for scope completeness

  • Develop and maintain updated budgets, bid packages, and preconstruction documents

  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and design coordination sessions

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering alternatives

  • Support preconstruction handoffs and assist operations teams with project transitions

  • Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and assist in developing bid coverage

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred

  • 3–7 years of estimating experience with a commercial general contractor

  • Experience in ground-up, tenant improvement, or institutional projects (K-12, healthcare, higher ed)

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and committed to accuracy
