Summary
We are seeking a skilled Commercial Millwork Estimator with 5 7 years of experience estimating architectural millwork packages for commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for developing accurate and competitive bids while collaborating with project managers, engineers, vendors, and production teams to ensure scope completeness and cost control from preconstruction through project award.
Responsibilities
-Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for commercial millwork scopes, including casework, countertops, wall panels, doors, fixtures, and specialty architectural features.
-Identify constructability issues, scope gaps, and risk items and communicate findings to the estimating and project teams
-Review architectural and interior design drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to fully define project scope
-Support project turnover to project management and production teams with clear scope narratives and assumptions
-Analyze labor, material, finishes, hardware, fabrication, delivery, and installation costs
-Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and pricing benchmarks
-Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and scope review sessions as required
-Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive
-Develop value engineering options and pricing alternates when requested
-Assist with change order pricing and budget revisions post-award
Requirements
-Familiarity with AWI Standards and quality compliance
-Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general estimating tools
-Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
-Experience coordinating with CAD/CAM, engineering, or shop production teams
-Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
-Degree or certification in Construction Management, Wood Technology, or a related field
-Working knowledge of millwork materials, finishes, hardware, and fabrication methods
-Strong understanding of commercial construction processes and coordination with other trades
-5 7 years of estimating experience in commercial millwork or architectural woodworking
-Ability to read and interpret architectural, interior, and shop drawings and specifications
-Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Innergy, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar)
-Experience with mid-to-large-scale commercial projects (corporate interiors, healthcare, education, hospitality, retail, or multi-use developments)
