(301-475-5511, ext. 32187) Nature of Work This is a temporary position to ensure the safety and security of the staff and students while they participate in summer programs. Ability to sit, stand, and walk for an undetermined length of time in all types of weather conditions. Duties and Responsibilities Maintains confidentiality of student records and personal information. Maintains a safe and orderly environment for staff, students, and parents. Staffs security desk at designated locations as assigned. Greets building visitors and monitors visitor access, sign in/registration, and identification. Monitors security camera systems. Monitors electronic locking security systems. Monitors alarm and other security systems. Reports unusual or suspicious activities to Safety and Security. Conducts perimeter checks of all doors and windows as assigned. Monitors radio communications and assists in response to emergency situations. Completes a daily safety and security checklist and other forms as required. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: High school diploma (or GED). Individuals 18 years of age and older must complete a criminal background investigation. Preferred: Some college training, or other combinations of applicable education and training, to include a background with experience relating to safety and security. Term of Employment Employment in this position will be temporary in nature for the course of the summer, not to exceed September 1 of each fiscal year. No guarantee of continuation in this position from one fiscal year to the next. Salary Grade Range Current Safety Assistants with SMCPS shall be paid their hourly rate of pay.
