We are currently seeking a committed and passionate Academic Mentor to lead physical, and enrichment activities as part of our Expanded Learning Program at Oakland Tech High School in Oakland, CA. Instructors must be able to work with up to 20 youth during expanded learning hours: Mondays: 3:30pm to 5:30pm, Wednesdays: 2:30pm- 5:00pm, Fridays: 2:30pm-5:00pm.
Commitment to continuous youth development and connection to our communities and families are our top priorities.

Benefits

• Pay rate: $22/hour (depending on experience)
• Part Time: 10 hours per week

Minimum Requirements

• Must have an (a) Associate Degree or higher, or (b) 48 or more college units, or (c) High School Diploma or GED and pass Instructional Aide exam

• Ability to reliably commute to Oakland, CA

• Commitment to education equity and leadership

• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
• Must pass a criminal background check
• Must provide negative TB clearance

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain the emotional well-being of the students.

• Provide a safe environment

• Be a positive role model for struggling students

• Have fun engaging students in lesson plans that support school-day learning

• Run community circles based on restorative practices

• Ability to collaborate with youth to support their learning and development (youth-driven curriculum)
