Expanded Learning Tkk Program Instructor Montclair Apply
We are seeking committed and passionate expanded learning instructors to change the future of students by leading academic, physical, and enrichment activities as part of our team at Montclair Elementary School. As an TK/K Program Instructor, you will build and foster learning through play based hands on developmentally appropriate activities for young children. Our ratios are 1:10 in a school based setting. We are seeking committed and passionate individuals who have a strong interest in working with TK/K children.

- Hours per week: 26 hours, plus PD

Minimum Requirements:
- Associate Degree or higher, or 48 or more college units, or the pass of the Instructional Aide exam (High school diploma or GED required)
- Must pass criminal background check and TB test clearance
- A desire to work with young children
- Ability to reliably commute to Oakland
- Commitment to education equity and leadership
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Preferred:
- TK/K early childhood experience required, 6-12 ECE Units
- Commitment to a full school year
- Ability to practice open, clear, and consistent communication and commitment to participate in professional development.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and plan play-based curriculum that supports kindergarten and first grade readiness
- Creates a program environment that fosters creativity and excitement
- Support and maintain the emotional well-being of the students.
- Provide a safe and positive classroom environment
- Write lesson plans, using learning targets and instructional strategies
- Be a positive role model for struggling students
- Actively supervise and ensure safety of all children at all times
- Have fun engaging students in lesson plans that support school-day learning
- Run community circles based on restorative practices
- Ability to collaborate with youth to support their learning and development (youth-driven curriculum)
