EXPANDED METAL MACHINE OPERATOR

FUNCTION:

• Entry level classification for all new Operator classification.

BASIC DUTIES & EXPECTATIONS:

• 180-day probationary period.
• Assists and observes operators in work center operations
• Receives training and testing on basic essential information
• Product Identification for:
• Finished Goods.
• Raw Materials.

• Safety protocols
• Quality System
• Packaging
• Support Equipment

• Trains to understands principles of production operations.
• Assists in set up and adjustments of production equipment.
• Inspects parts visually and uses measuring tools to ensure compliance to specifications and drawings. Documents results as required.
• Performs inspections and rework as required.
• Ensures that machines and work area is clean, secure, and well maintained to safety standards.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:

• Shows understanding of mesh and sheet terminology through training and testing.
• Shows understanding of the Quality System through training and testing.
• Shows understanding of the work center operation through training and testing.
• Steps 1,2, & 3 are reviewed and tested for continuous improvement.
• Production functions are completed in accordance with Company standards and procedures.
• Attendance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience: Two or more years of experience in mechanical knowledge, operating press manufacturing and related equipment.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Quality orientation and attentive to detail.
• Good manual dexterity.
• Cooperative and willing to assist others.
• Follows written and verbal instructions.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

• Reach: Extending hands and arms in any direction.
• Standing: For extended time periods.
• Walking: Especially for long distances.
• Physical Strength: Medium to heavy work; exerting up to 200 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. frequently, and 20 lbs. constantly.
• Pushing: Using upper body to press against something with steady force.
• Pulling: Using upper body to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects.
• Lifting: Use of upper body and back muscles to lift objects.
• Dexterity: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
• Grasping: Using fingers and palm on an object.
• Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
• Hearing: Average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
• Repetitive Motion: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Vision: Fine visual acuity with the ability to inspect closely or to assemble small parts; color vision; or depth perception and/or field of vision.
• Working Conditions: Must work under hazardous conditions including high places, chemical exposures, electrical current, moving machinery, exposure to blood, etc. Employee is subject to fumes, odors, dusts, and gases.

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION:

• Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions and to deal with problems involving variables.
• Mathematics: Ability to perform very basic math skills including adding; subtracting, multiplying, and dividing two-digit numbers; the four basic arithmetic operations with money; and operations with units such as inch, foot, yard; ounce, and pound and their metric counterparts.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• High school reading.
• Read at a moderate rate.
• Communicate in simple sentences.

EDUCATION:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)
