Description:
Provide technical leadership and accountability in the assurance of technical adequacy and appropriateness of all engineering activities in the area of discipline responsibility. In addition, the position provides a strong and recognized technical resource for the solution of problems that go beyond the scope normally encountered. The position provides a broad scope capability based on extensive experience in the solution of engineering problems and practical applications in in their specific technical discipline. This position retains primary accountability for compliance with design bases requirements and proper application of engineering methods in design and analysis.
Principal Accountabilities
Assure the technical adequacy of work performed in the discipline or engineering program by reviewing and approving design changes, calculations/analyses, licensing documents, system health reports and other technical documents as defined in procedures and as assigned by the manager or supervisor. Define, implement, and manage major engineering programs or discipline groups by providing required technical leadership and overview with minimal guidance from management. Assure that engineering work is completed properly by assuring its technical quality and cost effectiveness. Provide broad, in-depth technical guidance and mentoring to discipline engineering personnel by active involvement in current engineering issues, and in coordination efforts in multidiscipline aspects of the work performed. As a senior technical authority, provide engineering consultation and guidance in the resolution of complex system and component problems where broad system knowledge and integration of multiple factors is necessary. Identify potential problems in design, quality, or operations and initiate corrective actions in accordance with the plant CR process. Provide consultation and direction on code or standards requirements, design and analysis methods, or licensing requirements as appropriate for tasks assigned to the discipline group. Assure appropriate actions are documented in engineering and technical procedures and standards. Develop state-of-the-art discipline engineering methods and practices as required to meet engineering missions and establish a professional reputation within the company and industry via technical publications and/or professional society participation.
Required Education and Experience
Requires two of the following:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or Applied Science from an accredited college or university.
Professional Engineering (PE) license an advanced degree Also requires:
Twelve years of discipline specific engineering experience with at least seven years related to nuclear power.
Applicant must pass a background investigation with heightened security clearance, see below.
Unescorted Access (Green badge 1 or 2)
Depending on the individual's basis for action in the Personal Access Database System (PADS), the individual may not need all the requirements listed below to be certified for Unescorted Access (UA) also known at Client as a green badge. A Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) is mandatory for all applicants regardless of their basis for action in PADS. The PHQ requires the applicant to answer all the information truthfully and its very important the applicant reads the instructions for each section carefully before signing their electronic signature.
Unescorted Access may include, but is not limited to, the following:
Background investigation review after Access Authorization receives the completed electronic PHQ.
Valid (non-expired) state issued driver's license / identification card or U.S Passport.
Fitness for Duty drug and alcohol screening.
Criminal history submittal (fingerprints) to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and returned results reviewed against the individuals completed PHQ.
Psychological evaluation/review, which may include a clinical interview.
Credit report submittal/review against the individuals completed PHQ.
Computer based training to include other required training as applicable to the Work.
Subject to a five-year reinvestigation to include:
o Updated PHQ
o Updated criminal history (fingerprint) submittal/review
o Updated credit report submittal/review
Critical Group Inclusion
Critical Group is designated for individuals that may have knowledge of defensive strategies and design and/or implementation of the Plants defensive strategy.
The Client Manager or Supervisor may select Critical Group Inclusion on the individuals Access Authorization request.
Critical Group Inclusion requires the above listed requirements for Unescorted Access (Green badge) with the following additional components:
Mandatory clinical interview scheduled after the psychological testing.
Subject to a three-year reinvestigation to include:
o Updated PHQ
o Updated fingerprint submittal/review
o Updated credit report submittal/review
o Psychological evaluation/review and mandatory interview

Experience in SEL relay selection, design, programming and testing
Experience in Triconex system component selection, design, programming and testing
Experience in Cyber Security requirements and documentation
Required abilities and skills
Required is a seasoned, in-depth knowledge of discipline engineering principles, practices and theories, and methods to identify and solve the most complex of problems by performing sophisticated analyses as required. Advanced technical knowledge of related discipline principles is required. Must maintain current knowledge of industry developments and applications to Client.
Applicant must meet physical capability requirements:
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (rarely 0-5%)
Climb ladders and scaffolding as necessary (occasionally up to 10%)
Wear hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection when required
Dawn Radiation Protective Clothing when required
Work alternate shifts during outages when needed
Well organized and able to recognize and manage priorities

Ability to provide strong technical guidance, mentoring of junior staff, leadership, and technical training employees. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
