Student Union Facilities Maintenance & Operations The SUFMO manages and operates multiple facilities including the MLK Jr. Student Union, Eshleman Hall, Anthony Hall, and Anna Head Alumnae Hall. Our professional and student staff value providing high‑quality customer service while fostering a safe, secure and operable environment for the campus community and visitors. Position Summary The Facilities Coordinator facilitates building‑related services and safety matters for occupants, visitors, and event venues within the ASUC Student Union. This position manages, organizes, and oversees multiple operational activities, including space planning, general maintenance, and call center triage for repair services. The Facilities Coordinator also provides student staff support and coordinates the development of procedures, policies, and communications related to infrastructure and safety. Additionally, this role offers expertise in safety and security while providing a high level of customer service. Application Review Date The First Review Date for this job is July 1, 2026. For full consideration, please apply on or before that date. Responsibilities Building Operations Support the Student Union building operations. Act as Building Coordinator for organization emergency/disaster preparedness, incident response, and de‑escalation. May work day or swing shift hours. Customer Service Provide excellent customer service to event clients and building occupants. Ensure smooth‑running effective events and proper use of building amenities, including resolving potential and real problems promptly with tact, sensitivity, discretion, and political acumen. Maintenance Coordination Coordinate, monitor, and track all maintenance, custodial, and other service requests by campus Facilities Services and outside vendors or organizations for assigned facilities and event spaces. Safety and Inspection Conduct regular rounds to inspect areas for security, fire, and accident hazards and take appropriate action. Report infractions of fire and building codes, building rules, and other irregularities to management. Safety Compliance and Representation Act as representative for special projects related to organization facilities and represent the organization safety committee, emergency committee, and ergonomic program. Ensure departmental compliance with OSHA / EH&S regulations and state and organization policies. Implement safety and emergency preparedness policies, maintain first aid supplies, fire extinguishers, and other safety equipment. Support in Student Union Staff Supervision Direct student work and assign duties daily when necessary for the Facilities student teams. Serve as next level support for escalated issues from student staff. Required Qualifications Working knowledge of practices and procedures relating to facility maintenance and operational support. Active listening, interpersonal communication, and problem‑solving skills to resolve questions, concerns, issues, or problems and ensure cooperative and productive working relationships. Demonstrated conflict resolution and/or de‑escalation experience. Working knowledge and experience leading student staff. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Written communication skills to prepare correspondence, reports, policies, procedures, and training documents. Ability to work under pressure of deadlines in a stressful environment. Organizational skills to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, establish goals and workload priorities, and meet project deadlines within budget and time constraints. Education / Training Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience or training. The budgeted hourly range for this position is $36.91 (Step 4) – $39.96 (Step 8). This is a non‑exempt, bi‑weekly paid position. It is full‑time (40 hours/week) and eligible for UC benefits.
