What this job involves: The Facilities Maintenance/Carpenter is responsible for performing skilled carpentry tasks for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of commercial and residential properties. This role involves collaborating with a maintenance team to ensure facilities are safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. The ideal candidate possesses strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team under minimal supervision.What your day-to-day will look like:Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks, focusing on carpentry work including framing, drywall installation, finish carpentry, and millworkInspect, diagnose, and repair structural damageConstruct and repair woodwork and other wooden structuresRead and interpret blueprints, sketches, or building plansCollaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors on larger projectsMaintain inventory of carpentry suppliesRespond to work orders and service requests promptlyAssist in other maintenance tasks as requiredWork Schedule:Monday – Friday, 7:15 AM – 4 PMSubject to on-call 24 hours per dayFlexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as requiredPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift 50 poundsPhysical stamina and manual dexterityStanding, walking, bending, and climbing, often for extended periodsWork at heights and perform overhead workAble to work in close spaces (closets, crawl spaces, attics, vaults, etc.)Able to work on roofs of buildingsEnvironmental Conditions:Work in various settings, both indoors and outdoorsPotential exposure to extreme conditionsWork in industrial settings with varying temperatures, noise levels, and other environmental factorsSafety Compliance:Comprehensive knowledge of safe work practicesAbility to recognize, assess, and mitigate or eliminate risksProper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)Participate in safety committees and initiativesPromote a safe working environmentDesired or Preferred Experience and Technical Skills:Journeyman carpenter certification or vocational training in carpentryProficiency with hand tools and power toolsSolid understanding of safety regulations and protocolsExcellent communication skillsRequired Skills and Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent3-5 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic or carpenterAbility to read technical documents and drawingsValid state driver's licenseAbility to work well with a teamPhysical capability to perform required job functions safely#MMjobs
