Faculty Member for Automotive/Diesel Technology (ATDI) (Tenure Track or Non‑Tenure Track) The College of Technical Sciences at Montana State University‑Northern (MSUN) invites applications for a 10‑month (academic‑year) faculty position in Automotive/Diesel Technology to begin August 1, 2026. This position may be filled as a tenure‑track Assistant Professor or a non‑tenure‑track Lecturer I. Effective teaching is the primary mission of this position and MSU‑Northern. Position Details Title: Faculty Member for Automotive/Diesel Technology (ATDI) (Tenure Track or Non‑Tenure Track) Contract: Academic Year (10 months) Location: Montana State University‑Northern, Havre, MT Benefits: Paid health insurance, retirement plans, paid sick leave, one floating holiday, 12 paid holidays, and Montana University System tuition waivers. Salary: Commensurate with credentials and experience and within the guidelines set by the collective bargaining agreement. Duties and Responsibilities Teach approximately 24 credit hours of lecture/laboratory courses per academic year, primarily in automotive technology. Potential assignments in diesel/ag mechanics and related subjects. Provide academic and career advising. Engage in curriculum development, lab and classroom maintenance, program growth, and program assessment. Work with an external industry‑specific advisory board to ensure program quality and student employability. Serve on campus committees, engage in campus activities, and act as an ambassador for the College of Technical Sciences. Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Education and experience commensurate with rank. Recent industry work experience with a strong background in electrical/electronics, engines, and automotive/diesel systems. Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication. Demonstrated strength in interpersonal skills. For tenure‑track: a master’s degree is required for tenure; a bachelor’s degree in automotive technology or related field is required to be considered for the rank of Assistant Professor. Preferred Qualifications Experience with, and willingness to embrace, new technologies. Special Requirements A teaching demonstration by the candidate will be required as a part of the interview process. Physical Demands The ability to work in an office, classroom, or lab environment with or without reasonable accommodations.
