We are seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner to become a part of our team! You will focus on providing high quality patient care as part of a healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive patient care, including diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses and chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.
  • Apply Family Nurse Practitioner skills in all phases of healthcare services, including emergency care and trauma management.
  • Deliver health counseling and educational instruction to patients and families.
  • Assess, diagnose, and set up treatment plans for patients with a variety of health needs.
  • Participate in clinic quality assurance activities to enhance care delivery and patient outcomes.
  • Perform patient care services within the scope of practice defined by the Arizona Medical Board.
  • Document patient interactions, including medical history, physical assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
  • Complete referrals with comprehensive background information to facilitate specialist consultations.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA policies and safeguard patient medical records following state and federal guidelines.
  • Provide training and supervision to Medical Assistants (MAs) on clinical job performance, including CLIA-WAIVED testing and annual evaluations.
  • Monitor and ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment, adhering to laboratory policies and proficiency testing requirements.
  • Accurately complete patient encounter forms in accordance with current billing and coding standards.
  • Assist tribal leaders with the development and implementation of health programs, as directed by the clinic coordinator.
  • Utilize AthenaHealth EMR for documenting patient notes, charges, and achieving meaningful use requirements.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain appropriate certification and DEA license to write prescriptions as required.
  • Ensure current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Family Nurse Practitioner principles and practices in providing comprehensive healthcare in clinic, home, and community settings.
  • Assess and treat patients of all ages, with a focus on age-appropriate care and prevention.
  • Apply knowledge of adult education concepts to motivate patients for behavioral changes.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and an appreciation of the morals and customs of the ethnic group(s) served in the area.
  • Conduct physical and psychosocial assessments of individuals and communities, identifying normal and abnormal conditions and planning necessary therapeutic interventions.
  • Utilize knowledge of pharmacology to make informed decisions about drug therapies and treatment.
  • Offer counseling in preventive healthcare topics such as nutrition, child development, mental health, and common illnesses.
  • Assess and treat minor illnesses, including colds, cuts, and other common conditions.
  • Listen attentively, document medical histories, conduct physical exams, and communicate laboratory results to patients effectively.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving and workflow management skills to improve clinic efficiency.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Complete required Continuing Medical Education (CME) to meet state and NACSHCD regulations.
  • Provide satisfactory performance as evidenced by positive employment references and previous work history.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Familiarity with mandatory reporting requirements under Arizona State Statutes, including those specific to Indian Health Services.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Preferred five years of clinical experience as a Licensed Family Nurse Practitioner in an ambulatory care, family practice, occupational health, or emergency department setting.
  • Education:
    • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN).
    • Certification and licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.

  • Strong clinical knowledge and the ability to manage a wide range of medical conditions.
