Description: Directly implement and oversee all maintenance procedures on all swine facilities owned by Bluestem Farms and managed by The HANOR Company. This individual should know and be capable of performing all maintenance items associated with day-to-day operations of a swine facility. This would also include developing preventative maintenance protocols and then implementing and training farm staff once those protocols have been developed.
Essential functions (Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.):
- Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that swine facilities continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Use a variety of tools and equipment to perform routine farm maintenance at our facilities. Tools will range from hand tools, testing equipment to power tools and equipment will include mowing, snow removal, tractors, bobcats and possibly trenching equipment.
- Be able to diagnose and repair problems with the following types of systems;
- Feed Bins, Augers, Auger Motors, Feeders and Switches
- Ventilation Systems which includes multistage controllers, fans, curtains and curtain machines, heaters and mechanical inlet equipment
- Plumbing and Water Well Systems
- General Facility Repairs
- Incinerators
- Alarm Systems
- Develop written procedures for preventative maintenance and troubleshooting guidelines for the various systems within a swine facility. Once these protocols are developed, the candidate will train and oversee implementation of the above mentioned protocols.
- Ability to oversee projects which will include the following;
- Develop project proposals, which would include detailed cost analysis and completion timelines
- Purchase parts and equipment at competitive prices
- Manage subcontractors
- Deliver projects within targeted completion timelines and budget
- Assist Facilities Manager as needed to oversee new construction projects.
- Perform minor concrete projects.
- Perform minor remodel & equipment changes between turns.
- Test and check all equipment between turns and perform preventative maintenance.

Qualifications/COMPETENCIES:
- TN Visa holders with Farm Engineering Technician are eligible to apply.

- Experience with livestock handling, manure application and PQA+ certified helpful.
Educations and/or Experience
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED); Two to four years related experience.
Language skills
Bilingual preferred

Elementary math needed
Reasoning ability
Identify and Prioritize work to be within the department. Must be able to follow instructions.
