Pay Rate: $19.00/hr on W2
Shift Time: 7pm-7am (10 hours and 35 mins, (4) 15 mins breaks and 25 min lunch)
Description:
Please note the following key points:
- Steal Toe Shoes are required since Day 1.
- 12 hours shift Lunch break will be paid.
- Opportunity for conversion
- Opportunity for OT
- Schedule (4) days off, (4) days on
Can start with Cleared DT while BG is running

Job Description and Essential Functions
Department: Finishing Job Title: Finishing Utility / flatpack
Summary:
Responsible for feeding cartons onto belt and packing cartons using automatic packer or hand packing. May be assigned duties to utilize pallet jack transporting pallets of cartons in area where no forklift traffic is allowed. Support plant initiatives and directives. Maintain housekeeping and 5S to standards set by management. May be required to work in flat pack/sorting as needed. Follow all Smurfit Westrock Core Values and Behaviors. Additional job duties as assigned by department manager. Responsible for bulk-pack, break-away, case-pack and operating shrink tunnel and robot. Additional job duties as assigned by department manager.
Safety:
Required PPE must be worn while on your job. At a minimum safety glass, steel or composite toe shoes and hearing protection. Gloves are always required on the production floor and warehouses. Please see Appendix A and Appendix B (Conover specific) attached to the WestRock Glove Policy (CompliantPro). Bump cap per company policy

Compliance with all workplace rules, policies and procedures, i.e. SQF, safety, etc.
Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, hair nets, beard nets, composite/steel toe shoes, ear plugs, bump caps and gloves per glove policy.
Ability to use Plant Floor Data Collection system.
Testing and Measuring Ability (General Math): Ability to use and read basic measurement devices, (calculator, tape measure, and ruler.) Learn to operate testing devices (i.e. Chatillon, E J Caddy, Mettler PM 480, Fluke IR Thermometer. Lift truck (fork-lift) certification and pallet jack operation. General mechanical aptitude. Pass Farnsworth Munsel-100 Hue Test.
Written/Verbal Communications Skills: Must follow detailed instructions for training and quality.
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.
Knowledge of Cartons: Perform quality checks on cartons being processed.
Essential/Marginal Functions and Physical Requirements:
Essential: Lift cartons onto belt. Pack cartons into corrugated boxes. May be required to transport cartons via electric pallet jacks from forklift drop off point to storage point.
Expectations/Guidelines:
Check job specifications to materials in use.
Place cartons on belt maintaining proper stack height, carton direction, and ensure stack is straight position utilizing forklift skillsets,
Change pallets and/or loads
Determine packing specifications
Pack cartons using automatic packer or hand packs cartons
Perform quality audits during production and pack finished cartons into corrugated cases
Utilize electric pallet jack to transport cartons between forklift drop-off area and area stored
