Field Engineer
90% Travel Austin, TX & Surrounding Area
6 Month Contract-to-Hire

Synergis client, a global leader delivering streamlined global support solutions on behalf of technical product manufacturers, has engaged us to add a Senior IT Field Engineer to perform installations, repairs, upgrades, troubleshooting, etc. on some of healthcares premier equipment in this case, UltraWidefield Retinal Imaging systems. The selected candidate will have exemplary networking skills and experience as a baseline skill. Those candidates selected will be trained on the imaging systems and will get Level I through Level III certified to work a variety of cases with wide ranging complexities (training provided by manufacturer.) Successful candidates will have:

IT Field Engineer | Background and Scope

  • Plan installation of devices and repairs by liaising with in-house field support team and conducting a pre-scope of work conference calls with our clients Service Operations Center & the Manufactures Support team.
  • Provide several services on these imaging systems including, but not limited to:
  • Installation / De-Installation
  • Upgrades
  • Preventive Maintenance
  • Troubleshooting
  • Repairs
  • Firmware Updates
  • Install and maintain wired computer networks.
  • Manage all regulatory & compliance documentation as instructed by the client
  • Provide remote diagnosis / repair support when needed.
  • Relay field repetitive failures / quality issues to the team and management.
  • Document the service event in our clients Service / CRM tool in detail, at the end of each event.
  • Test repaired instruments in all operating modes per specification.
  • Complete training and develop proficiency in UltraWidefield retinal imaging systems developing skillsets in OCT and Fiber Optic technology.
  • Maintain inventory accountability for all parts, tools, and calibrated equipment.
  • Present yourself as a Manufacturer Field Service Engineer while on-site at end-user locations.

IT Field Engineer | Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experiences.
  • Previous field service experience in the medical device industry.
  • 3 to 4+ years of related field engineering experience
  • 3 - 5+ years Networking Experience
  • Experience with and good understanding of networking concepts
  • IP subnetting and the OSI model
  • LAN / WAN / WLAN / SDWAN
  • Routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, RIP, etc.
  • PC, Server, and network integration experience.
  • Skilled in instrument operation, maintenance, and repair procedures.
  • Ability to follow detailed technical instruction sets.
  • Exemplary technical and process troubleshooting skills.
  • Log gathering experience.
  • Understanding of remote troubleshooting techniques and tools
  • Case management experience (Salesforce Service Cloud preferred but not required)
  • Ability to manage expenses, travel arrangements and customer facing management.
  • Ability to keep a calm head while under pressure, and maintain the highest level of customer experience
  • An ability to adapt to change, work within tight deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • Technical aptitude paired with ability & desire to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Organized with demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems.

IT Field Engineer | Other:

  • Ability to work for any US based company without sponsorship, now or anytime in the future.
  • Travel: 90%+ travel within 500 miles of city center
  • 75% will be car travel (within 200 miles of Austin city center majority of install base)
  • 25% airline travel (between 200 & 500 miles from city center)
  • Overnight travel may be required (per diem paid for any trip requiring overnight travel)
  • Work will be performed during core hours, but there will be some weekend & evening work site specific.
  • Must have reliable transportation and an exemplary driving record
  • Local, metro-Austin based candidates are only being considered at this time
