Job Description:
The Field Engineer will perform depot-level repair, modification, refurbishment, and maintenance support for the Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight / Pilot Night Vision Sensor (M-TADS/M-PNVS) systems. This role involves hands-on work with complex electro-mechanical and electro-optical assemblies, fault isolation, and system testing. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, skilled in troubleshooting, and capable of interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
This position is based full-time in Gilbert, Arizona at the Arizona Support Center and will serve as a key technical representative supporting Apache Fire Control programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform depot-level repairs, rework, and fault isolation on mechanical, structural, optical subsystems, and complete systems.
- Conduct troubleshooting, testing, and acceptance verification using automated and general-purpose test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, network analyzers, waveform generators, etc.).
- Perform precision mechanical operations, including milling and drilling, to rework or repair mechanical components.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with engineering drawings, schematics, Repair Center Procedures (RCPs), Field Advisory Bulletins (FABs), and Contractor Installation Procedures (CIPs).
- Document maintenance and repair actions in automated systems following Apache Fire Control processes.
- Provide feedback and technical recommendations to improve reliability of electro-mechanical and electro-optical components.
- Conduct limited material handling (e.g., load/unload equipment, operate hoists).
- Perform painting and finishing duties for system components and miscellaneous hardware as needed.
- Safely work with hazardous materials and chemicals using required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Required Qualifications:
- 2 4 years of experience in repair and maintenance of electro-mechanical and electro-optical assemblies.
- 2 4 years of experience applying basic avionics and electronics principles.
- 2 4 years of experience with CCA component rework and repair.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting and fault isolation using general-purpose and/or automated test equipment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, test, and repair procedures.
- Familiarity with industrial standards, military specifications, and related processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and adapt to changing work requirements.
- Knowledge of government property use and control policies.
- Ability to safely handle hazardous materials and mix chemicals as required.
- Competence in safety wiring assemblies and connectors.
Desired Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of automated and general-purpose test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, network analyzers, waveform generators).
- Advanced understanding of electro-mechanical and electro-optical fault isolation.
- Strong knowledge of hardware repair concepts and industrial/aircraft maintenance safety standards.
- Military flight-line maintenance experience (2 4 years preferred).
- Willingness to support Contractor Field Service Representative (CFSR) duties on a voluntary basis, which may include international, domestic, or deployment-based flight line operations (up to 24 months maximum).
