Finance Director (Residential Restoration & Remodeling Construction Co )
About Us
For 17 years, Purpose Driven Restoration & Remodeling has been a staple in Elk River, MN & the surrounding communities . In the beginning PDR was transforming the exteriors of homes with premier roofing, siding and windows, eventually, making our presence known as the go to company for high-end additions, custom porches, full-scale kitchens, bathrooms, basements & all types of interior renovations. With a dedicated sales team of 6 and an annual revenue of $3M–$7M, we are in a phase of refined growth. We aren't just looking for a "bookkeeper"—we are looking for a strategic partner to oversee our financial health and ensure our profitability matches our craftsmanship.
The Role
As the Finance Director, you will be the architect of our financial stability. You will move beyond basic data entry to provide high-level analysis of our margins, sales commissions, and operational overhead. You will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Sales and Production teams to ensure every project—from a basement finish to a 4-season porch—is a financial success.
Key Responsibilities
- Job Costing & Margin Analysis: Track real-time profitability on diverse project types (Full-gut kitchens vs. exterior remodeling).
- Cash Flow Management: Manage the "peaks and valleys" of construction draws and progress payments to ensure healthy working capital.
- Sales Compensation: Oversee the commission structure and payouts for a 7-person sales team, ensuring accuracy and motivation.
- Financial Reporting: Produce monthly P&L statements, balance sheets, and specialized WIP (Work in Progress) reports.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Help us scale from $7M toward our next milestone by identifying overhead efficiencies and revenue opportunities.
- Compliance & Risk: Manage insurance audits (Workers Comp/GL), lien waivers, and subcontractor documentation.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of financial management experience, specifically within the Construction or Remodeling industry (highly preferred).
- Systems: Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop or Online) and experience with construction project management software (e.g., BuilderTrend, CoConstruct, or JobTread).
- Communication: Ability to explain financial health to non-financial team members (Project Managers and Sales Reps).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred; MBA or advanced degree highly desirable.
- This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a comprehensive understanding of both finance and human resources functions who is committed to organizational excellence and ethical standards. Analytical Mindset: You don't just see numbers; you see the story they tell about our field efficiency.
