This position will run until filled with the following cutoff dates for review: 2/22/24, 3/13/24, 4/3/24, 4/23/24, and every two weeks until filled.
Anticipated Interview Dates: In person interviews are anticipated to be held two weeks from each cutoff date.
Telework Information: This position is eligible for hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.
CalPERS seeks a Financial Accountant IV, Supervisor in the Financial Reporting and Accounting Services Division, Financial Reporting Unit.
Under the general direction of the Controller, the Financial Accountant (FA) IV Supervisor has management responsibility for highly specialized CalPERS professionals; plans, organizes the preparation of various monthly reports, quarterly full-accrual financial statements and the annual audited financial statements, State Controller Office GAAP and Legal Basis financial statements, and SCO Local Government Reporting System reports. Coordinates both mid-year and year-end audit activities for accounting with the external auditors; Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) compliant verification and examination services; and manages all accounting activities for public and private market investments. The incumbent will function as the principal advisor to the Controller in support of and administration of the divisions operations and the establishment the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and other financial reports. Position also oversees the functional support team for the financial system.

The SOQ must be typed, titled Statement of Qualifications, and each statement must be numbered and answered listing all relevant experience, education, and training, including places of employment, dates, and duties performed.
The SOQ must not exceed two pages in length and must not have font smaller than 12 point and address the following:
- Describe your experience planning, organizing, managing, and/or directing multiple program functions or projects. Please include the number and level of subordinate managers and describe the types of issues routinely addressed.
- Describe your experience directing, overseeing, and/or appropriately handling sensitive executive assignments. Please include the number and level of subordinate managers and staff utilized to complete these assignments and describe the types of issues addressed.
- Describe your knowledge and experience with state accounting practices and financial reports and statements.
- Describe your experience in personnel management and leadership which demonstrates your ability to plan, organize, and direct a multi-disciplinary staff, and your knowledge of staff training and development, motivation, recognition, and performance management.

Desirable Qualifications
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing and perform well under pressure while working in a fast paced and multitasking environment.
- Demonstrate a high degree of independence, initiative, and responsibility in successfully performing the assigned job duties.
- Possession or candidate of a Master of Business Administration (MBA) or advanced degree in Finance, Investment Management, or another applicable technical field.
- Knowledge of standards associated with Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), Government Financial Officers Association (GFOA), and Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS).
- Understand accounting systems and financial organization and procedures of the State of California and related laws, rules and regulations.
