Job Summary
Assist students, parents, and staff with Title IV Financial Aid and other student financial aid services following office and college policies and procedures. Analyze and process financial assistance applications and documents. Manage the processing and operational requirements of specific federal, State and or/institutional financial aid programs.

Essential Functions
Assist students and parents with the financial aid processes from initial application to receipt of funds. Analyze and maintain student information records. Research and maintain internal and external databases. Process financial aid, and awarding of funds and award adjustments. Explain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), basic financial aid regulations as well as calculate academic credits needed for financial aid eligibility. Initiate correspondence to students and respond to electronic and in-person financial aid inquiries from the public, staff and students.

Serve as a resource to faculty, staff, and students in the areas of federal and state financial aid application and processing, loan eligibility assessment, and describing award types and programs. Conduct and/or assist with federal and institutional verification processing, scholarship review, and Federal College Work-Study. Review, award, and monitor compliance of assigned federal, State, and/or institutional financial aid programs. Identify and assist with resolution of issues within specific program and service areas. Generate reports from existing database using financial aid software.

Assist in maintaining and evaluating web-based financial aid forms. Scan and index student documentation and institutional records to the students electronic files. Participate in online, in-person, and self-paced professional development trainings and activities.

Participate in staff and supervisor meetings. Attend and provide support at on and off-campus financial aid information events. Provide input and support toward completing department goals and institutional strategic initiatives.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Associates degree (High school diploma and two years of experience in working with computers may substitute for the Associates degree.)
Two years of general office experience which includes computer experience and substantial public contact.
Demonstrated ability to understand and apply complex government regulations and financial assistance policies and procedures.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to plan, organize and manage time.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of current software applications.

Desired Qualifications
Bachelors degree.
Higher education experience with student accounts, student services and/or student advising.
Experience in a financial aid office.
Experience with database management.
Demonstrated customer service experience and ability to handle confidential issues and records with discretion and proper judgment.
