Financial Analyst II – The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine will currently be seeking a Financial Analyst II to join our team of professionals.
Job Summary
The role focuses on monitoring, analyzing, and managing financial aspects of faculty-related expenses, budgeting, financial modeling, and reporting within the Office of Faculty Affairs and the Department of Medical Education.
Duties
Monitors and analyzes non-personnel expenses including travel, memberships, subscriptions, faculty development, and other discretionary or programmatic costs.
Supports oversight and standardization of allowable faculty‑related expenses to ensure consistency, compliance, and appropriate use of institutional funds.
Tracks utilization of departmental and faculty‑related discretionary funds to ensure alignment with institutional priorities and budget constraints.
Supports the development of annual budgets and forecasts for the Office of Faculty Affairs and the Department of Medical Education.
Prepares financial impact analyses for new initiatives, unbudgeted requests, quarterly reports, and faculty‑related investments.
Conducts financial modeling and scenario planning related to faculty hiring, teaching coverage, and programmatic growth.
Ensures financial operations comply with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
Monitors budget exceptions, deficits, and funding discrepancies and works with stakeholders to implement corrective actions.
Prepares and coordinates payroll transfers, effort allocation adjustments, and funding changes to accurately reflect faculty and staff assignments across teaching, research, clinical, and administrative activities.
Supports the development and maintenance of real‑time reporting and tracking tools used for faculty assignment planning, effort management, budget monitoring, and operational decision‑making.
Monitors, analyzes, and reconciles faculty effort allocations and funding distributions across clinical, research, teaching, and administrative missions; tracks trends and provides recommendations to support strategic decision‑making and resource planning.
Produces and analyzes financial, workforce, and operational reports, including budget‑to‑actual variance analyses; identifies trends, risks, and opportunities; and provides actionable recommendations to leadership to optimize resource allocation.
Collaborates with Human Resources and departmental leadership to support workforce planning, personnel allocations, salary distributions, and position control activities; monitors personnel expenditures, and evaluates staffing trends.
Supports the financial review of faculty appointment, recruitment, and offer letter processes to ensure alignment with approved funding and effort commitments.
Provides direct supervision of the Administrative Coordinator and oversees the coordination of departmental financial operations to ensure accurate expense tracking, travel budget administration, Finance360 submissions, event budget management, fiscal reporting, and other related administrative processes that support faculty and departmental activities.
Performs related duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and two (2) years of experience in a related field or Master’s degree in a related discipline.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in finance or banking.
Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., PeopleSoft).
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, financial modeling, data analysis).
Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for leadership.
Experience working in cross‑functional, fast‑paced environments.
