The Financial Analyst will be primarily involved in various aspects of the accounting close cycle and preparing financial analyses for senior management. This position is responsible for producing accurate and timely financial statements and analyses with a focus on continuous process improvement. The Financial Analyst will be ambitious, highly motivated and confident working in a fast paced and dynamic environment. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity for a well-spoken professional who is a quick learner and who is interested in working with a non-profit organization that has been meeting human services needs since 1958 through a multitude of services including affordable housing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1. Consolidate and analyze accounting results for the all units of NHS.
  2. Analyze business and financial data
  3. Develop automated reporting and forecasting tools for more efficient use of data provided by our property manager(s)
  4. Create detailed documentation of accounting policies, processes and procedures
  5. Prepare month-end close deliverables - including recording of journal entries, preparation of all supporting schedules including balance sheet reconciliations and revenue and expenses variance analysis.
  6. Ensure financial statements are presented accurately and in accordance with GAAP.
  7. Ability to read and interpret management agreements to determine appropriate accounting treatment.
  8. Establish strong working relationships with third party operators to effectively analyze and communicate financial results
  9. Work with Asset Management team to provide excellent internal customer service.
  10. Prepare information needed for external reporting purposes
  11. Ensure adherence to internal control processes and procedures
  12. Assist with interim/annual audit processes with internal and external auditors
  13. Assist with integration, transition and disposition of properties as needed
  14. Support process improvement initiatives, make recommendations improve cost-effectiveness, complete ad-hoc projects and other management requests

GENERAL DUTIES:
  1. Perform tasks as requested and held directly responsible to the Supervisor.
  2. Serves as a positive role model, exhibits high ethical standards, and promotes the mission and values of NHS.
  3. Maintain familiarity with and review the personnel policies and procedures of New Hope Services (Employee Handbook).
  4. Contribute to the team effort to accomplish the mission of New Hope Services, Inc.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and banking working knowledge
  2. High level of computer proficiency - spreadsheet proficient (hardware and software)
  3. Contractual negotiation a plus
  1. Strong time management skills
  1. Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point and other Data Base programs)
  2. Experience with the following platforms is preferred – Nav 2013, INTACT, ADP, and Vertex software

EDUCATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelors of Business Administration or Accounting Degree required
  2. 3+ years of accounting and finance experience required
  3. Financial reporting experience is a plus, preferably within the real estate industry
