A Day in the Life of the Financial Systems Analyst II

In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting financial management operations across the organization. You’ll analyze budgets, track financial performance, and provide insights that help guide strategic decisions. Your work will directly contribute to improving financial processes and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.


Responsibilities include:

  • Provide financial management support for departments, branches, or organizational units
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of annual budgets
  • Evaluate budget proposals for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and assess program tradeoffs
  • Monitor budgets, costs, and variances across multiple funding sources
  • Research economic and financial trends impacting organizational spending
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Coordinate financial activities with internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepare financial reports, executive summaries, and recommendations
  • Deliver insights and proposed courses of action (COAs) for financial challenges
  • Support training efforts related to new financial procedures and systems
  • Apply financial management principles, regulations, and best practices


Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or a related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of financial management principles and processes
  • Experience with budget tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic recommendations
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Must have an active secret clearance
