We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead our Accounting team and oversee all financial operations. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, managing the accounting staff, supporting budgeting and forecasting, coordinating annual audits, and providing financial analysis to support business decisions. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on accounting leader with strong technical expertise, exceptional analytical skills, and experience managing a high‑performing accounting team. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise the daily operations of the Accounting department, including workflow management, employee development, scheduling, coaching, and performance management. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, accounting processes, and internal controls. Prepare, review, and analyze monthly and annual financial statements, identifying significant variances and recommending corrective actions. Oversee accounts payable, payroll, inventory accounting, fixed assets, and general accounting functions. Coordinate and serve as the primary contact for the annual external audit, ensuring timely completion of year‑end close activities and audit schedules. Support regulatory reporting and financial compliance by preparing analyses, studies, and required filing documentation. Monitor industry‑specific financial reporting and tariff requirements, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Assist in developing the annual operating budget and maintain budget tracking and reporting processes. Prepare financial analyses related to loans, depreciation, capital investments, and other business initiatives. Manage the annual business insurance renewal process, maintain policy records, coordinate certificates of insurance, and recommend coverage improvements. Provide financial insight and recommendations to executive leadership to support strategic decision‑making. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience within an accounting environment. Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and accounting best practices. Experience leading month‑end and year‑end close processes. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to develop, mentor, and motivate a team. Preferred Qualifications Experience in telecommunications, utility, or regulated industries. Knowledge of FCC Uniform System of Accounts, cost separation processes, NECA/AECA procedures, and Rural Utilities Service (RUS) requirements. Experience preparing regulatory filings and financial studies. Familiarity with AS400 or similar ERP/accounting systems.
