We are seeking a highly analytical and project-driven Accounting Technical Specialist to join a well-established, financially strong property & casualty insurance organization. This role sits at the intersection of accounting, finance transformation, and technology - ideal for someone who enjoys improving processes, strengthening controls, and driving cross-functional initiatives. This is not a traditional accounting role. It is designed for a finance professional who understands technical accounting and also thrives in project coordination, systems enhancement, and control environment oversight. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate finance-related projects, partnering closely with IT, Enterprise Project Management, and Financial Systems teams. Manage project schedules, budgets, communications, and status reporting. Prepare monthly financial reports and project-related analytics. Oversee the financial impact of projects, including considerations related to the monthly close process. Ensure implemented initiatives comply with GAAP and Statutory (SSAP) requirements. Evaluate emerging technologies and build business cases for enhancements or new system implementations. Assess and document the impact of projects on the company’s internal control environment. Assist with SOX 404 documentation and controls as needed. Support external audit requests by preparing required schedules and documentation. Qualifications 5–8 years of accounting experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP and/or SSAP. Experience with general ledger systems, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Exposure to financial systems projects or cross-functional initiatives strongly preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
