The Fireplace Surround Fabricator is responsible for the fabrication and preparation of natural stone material for use around a fireplace. The Fabricator role requires knowledge using a manual marble saw, precision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail to produce high-quality finished products.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Material Handling and Preparation
• Cutting
• Quality Control

• Safety and Maintenance

Responsibilities:

• Receive, inspect, and inventory material, ensuring accuracy and quality standards are met.
• Move crated material with a forklift and stage manually.
• Manually move material from the staging area to and from the marble saw.
• Use a hand polisher to finish cut edges.
• Operate manual bridge saw.
• Ensure proper alignment, layout, and symmetry of cuts to maximize material yield and minimize waste.
• Polish edges and surfaces of material to achieve a smooth, glossy finish using polishing equipment and abrasives.
• Perform quality checks and measurements to ensure dimensional accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
• Make corrections to meet quality standards and customer expectations.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to prevent accidents, injuries, and property damage.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the fabrication area, including proper storage of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Proficiency in operating stone fabrication machinery.
• Knowledge of stone types, characteristics, and fabrication techniques, including cutting and finishing.
• Attention to detail, precision, and craftsmanship in working with natural stone materials.
• Physical stamina and dexterity to lift, maneuver, and work with heavy material and equipment.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues with machinery, materials, or fabrication processes.
