SALARY: $28.00 - $36.00 Per Hour
DESCRIPTION: The Orangetown Parks & Recreation Department is seeking an RN, LPN, or EMT to perform the duties of Summer Camp First Aid Attendant. Orangetown Summer Day Camp runs for 6 weeks each summer at the German Masonic Grounds in Tappan, NY.
HOURS:
- 8:30am 4:30pm, Monday - Friday during Camp Season, July 1 to August 9 (Closed July 4-5).
- Additional hours required prior to camp season to review camper vaccine records and medical forms.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers medication or supervises self- administration.
- Renders emergency first aid and treatment to injured or ill youths; Stabilizes patient and arranges for medical transportation in the event of serious injury
- Records and reports the nature of illnesses, injuries and treatment.
SKILLS:
- Knowledge of the practices and procedures of routine health care and treatment
- Knowledge of first aid techniques and skill in their application;
- Ability to communicate amicably with patients
- Ability to express sympathy and understanding towards children.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a license to practice as a Physician, Physicians Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse or possession of an Emergency Medical Technician certificate.
- Experience working with children in a camp, school, or similar setting is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The New York State Sanitary Code requires current certificates in both Advanced First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
