Position Overview

The Fleet Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the operational readiness and cost efficiency of Blue Sky Plumbing’s light-duty vehicle fleet. This role ensures maximum uptime, cost control, and compliance across approximately 100 vehicles supporting Plumbing, HVAC, and Electrical operations.

The ideal candidate has a background in automotive service, fleet management, or transportation—preferably within the home service industry—and possesses the technical acumen to identify vehicle issues early, manage repairs effectively, and drive data-backed operational improvements.

This position is both hands-on and analytical, balancing vehicle inspections, vendor coordination, and driver engagement with administrative tasks such as fleet data management, fuel card oversight, Fleet Safety, and KPI reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections to ensure operational and safety readiness.
  • Manage all fleet data including vehicle inventory, telematics systems, and WEX fuel card programs.
  • Coordinate vehicle repairs through approved vendors; verify warranty coverage and negotiate cost-effective solutions and perform minor repairs in-house.
  • Track all maintenance, repairs, and downtime events, ensuring timely scheduling and documentation.
  • Prepare new and existing vehicles for field readiness, including registration, licensing, and insurance compliance.
  • Maintain relationships with service providers and vendors to ensure responsive, high-quality repair work.
  • File insurance claims and manage the repair process for damaged vehicles.
  • Pick up, deliver, and coordinate vehicle movements as needed to minimize technician disruption.
  • Monitor telematics data for driver behavior trends; partner with department leaders to coach and correct in a non-direct manner.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to address fleet-related issues impacting operations.
  • Ensure compliance with fleet KPIs and contribute to monthly reporting of performance, cost, and utilization metrics.
  • Seek warranty opportunities and manufacturer support to reduce repair spend.
  • Perform other fleet-related or business-support tasks as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive service, fleet management, or logistics.
  • ASE certifications strongly preferred.
  • NAFA certification or coursework (CAFM/CFM) desirable.
  • Working knowledge of telematics systems, preventive maintenance programs, and repair cost control.
  • Experience in the home services industry (Plumbing, HVAC, or Electrical) preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Proficient in Excel, fleet management software, and vendor coordination.

This position plays a critical role in keeping our fleet safe, efficient, and ready to serve our customers. The right candidate will take pride in owning the details that keep operations moving and contribute meaningfully to the overall success of Blue Sky Plumbing.

  • Must consider safety one’s primary job, both for personal, co-worker and public benefit, and must have general knowledge of safe working practices and of OSHA requirements.
  • To adequately perform the duties of this job the employee is regularly and routinely required to sit; stand, walk, stoop, use hands to finger, handle controls; hear, and talk. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to climb ladders, work in hot and cold environments, and work in small crawl spaces. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50lbs and up because the equipment being used can be heavy and cumbersome. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The work environment can vary depending on the season and scope of work - employees are required to work outdoors throughout the seasons. The work environment will subject employees to continual interruptions and changing priorities. Effective, consistent, and constant communication with customers, vendors, co-workers, and others is required.

Schedule: Full-Time / On-Site, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM (with overtime as required to address after-hours or weekend concerns)

Hourly Pay Rate Range: $26/h-$33/h
