Job Summary

The Fleet Manager is responsible for the comprehensive management of the fleet including, planning, coordinating, evaluating, and administering all services, budget development, inventory management, equipment specification and procurement, and supervision of the daily operation for the fleet department. The position works in collaboration with internal and external departments at all levels of the organizations to ensure vehicles and equipment are maintained and repaired in a safe and cost-effective manner.

Fleet Services is a regional repair facility, maintaining over 1,100 pieces of equipment. The County has approximately 350 assets, the remainder are insourced. We provide maintenance, repair, specifications, purchasing and fleet management for the County and other public agencies in six Counties.

    • $101,853.02 - $142,594.40
    • This position guarantees two salary raises within your first year as long as your performance is in good standing!

Minimum Qualifications
The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university inAccounting, Analytics, Business, Finance, or related field; AND
  • 7 years of work experience in Fleet Managementthat includes at least 3 years of supervisory work experience.
    • Supervisory experience includes the authority to hire, terminate, assign, reward and discipline other employees
  • A resume and cover letter is required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Please note there is no equivalency for the 3 years of supervisory work experience.

The Ideal Candidate
Candidates with the following knowledge, skills, and abilities are preferred:


  • Understanding of fleet management procedures and policies
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations and safety guidelines
  • Adept at common vehicle maintenance procedures
  • Ability to use reporting and data tracking software
  • Adept at cost-effective preventive maintenance procedures
  • Experience with Munis Accounting software
  • Experience insourcing work from outside agencies
Candidates with the following certifications are preferred:
  • American Public Works Association (APWA)
  • Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP)certification or the National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA)
  • Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM)
  • Experience with FASTER or Asset Works Fleet Information Management Systems (FIMS)
