You'll play an important role in educating, protecting, and caring for students, helping them soar and become kind, capable humansand future leaders.Overview:The role of the Foods and Nutrition Service Worker (up to 6 hours per day) includes preparing food items and serving meals to students and faculty. The position operates and cleans equipment while following ServSafe standards for food preparation, safety, storage, and disposal. The worker may assist the manager or assistant manager with kitchen staff oversight and training and will report directly to the Food Service Manager.Specific Duties Include:Prepare menu items for breakfast and lunch and serve food to students, faculty, and patronsFill milk coolers and assist managers with daily needsUse a computer and point-of-sale system for meal serviceOperate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipmentClean and sanitize food prep and serving areasMonitor students trays for federal reimbursable meal complianceFollow standardized recipes, menus, and special diet preparationsMaintain a clean, safe kitchen and dining environmentAssist with inventory, storage, and food deliveriesParticipate in promotions, themed days, and special events even beyond the normal work day.Complete required training and follow safety guidelinesMaintain punctuality and regular attendanceQualificationsRequired Skills and Abilities:Ability to acquire and maintain a Food Handler's Permit or ServSafe certification prior to beginning workPrior food service or related experience preferred, but not requiredAbility to safely operate, clean, and maintain basic kitchen equipmentStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively as part of a teamDependable, detail-oriented, and able to follow established proceduresSelf-motivated with the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervisionAbility to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environmentAbility to maintain a positive demeanor and work effectively under pressureBasic computer skills and point-of-sale system useCompetency in reading, writing, and basic mathAbility to read, understand, and follow standard operating procedures and recipesCommitment to strict personal hygiene and food safety standardsAbility to attend required summer training and start work one week prior to the start of school in AugustMachines, Tools, and Equipment Used:Commercial kitchen equipment including ovens, steamers, kettles, fryers, proofers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, slicers, processors, and milk coolersComputer, calculator, and point-of-sale/cash register systemsCleaning supplies and food service chemicalsEducation and Experience:High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferredPhysical Requirements:Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periodsAbility to lift, carry, push, and pull kitchen items and equipment as required (up to 70 lbs in some tasks)Ability to bend, reach, squat, kneel, and perform repetitive motionsAbility to work safely in environments with heat, wet surfaces, and kitchen equipmentAbility to communicate verbally with students, staff, and supervisorsAdditionally:This position requires a high level of dependability and punctuality.The work environment is fast-paced and may involve frequent changes throughout the day.The successful candidate must be able to adapt quickly, prioritize effectively, and remain flexible.Possible Schedule:
