We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Technician / Coordinator to support food safety and quality programs within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role works closely with production and quality leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal standards including HACCP, GMP, SQF, and FSMA requirements.
Location: Gloucester, MA
Pay: Starting at $24+ per hour (based on experience)
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with FDA, state/local regulations and internal food safety programs (HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, SQF, FSMA, sanitation & pest control)
- Promote company-wide adherence to food safety and quality standards
- Perform daily quality checks including sanitizer/chlorine concentrations, pH, temperatures, weights, and product appearance
- Inspect products on the production line to verify premium quality standards
- Monitor metal detector operations and product seal integrity
- Verify labels, packaging information, and production documentation accuracy
- Calibrate thermometers and pH meters and maintain accurate logs
- Complete production monitoring and foreign object control documentation
- Conduct pre-operational and sanitation inspections
- Perform environmental and product swabbing (daily/weekly/monthly) per sanitation & Listeria programs
- Coordinate with external laboratory for testing, reporting, and data tracking
- Assist with facility audits, mock recalls, traceability programs, and validations
- Identify root causes of quality issues and implement corrective actions
- Track holds, rejections, returns, and food safety culture activities
- Support training and maintain QA documentation and manuals
- Act as backup QC technician on the production floor as needed
- Authority to stop production when food safety or quality concerns arise
Qualifications
- Food manufacturing or quality assurance experience preferred
- Ability to obtain HACCP, SQF Practitioner, and PCQI certifications
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SQF, and food safety standards
- Strong documentation and record-keeping skills
- Comfortable working in a production environment
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, Safety Culture)
- Bilingual Spanish a plus
