Position Overview
This is a technical Food Safety role with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance and systems management. The Food Safety Manager will lead plant-level food safety initiatives and oversee key areas including the microlab, CAPA processes, and auditing.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with USDA regulations, SQF standards, and HACCP programs
- Manage and continuously improve food safety systems, process controls, and preventative actions
- Lead internal and external audits, plant walk-throughs, and risk assessments for new products and processes
- Oversee laboratory operations, including data analysis and support of investigative activities
- Provide leadership, training, and development for the Food Safety/HACCP team
Qualifications
- 3 to 5+ years of experience in food manufacturing (USDA-regulated environment strongly preferred)
- Strong knowledge of the 7-step sanitation process
- SQF and/or HACCP certification preferred
- Experience managing a microlab and leading a small team (1–2 direct reports)
- Demonstrated focus in food safety rather than general QA/QC
