Queen Anne's County Schools Food Service Worker—
Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the School Cafeteria Manager, assists in the preparation and serving of foods, cleaning of the kitchen, utensils and equipment and other related work as required.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily

- Must be able to pass a security background check
- Must maintain a minimum of 4(<20 hours a week) or 6(20 or more hours a week) hours of annual continuing education in accordance to the USDA Professional Standards
Responsibilities/ Essential Functions:
- Participates in the preparation, cooking and serving of food
- Complies with all local, state and federal health guidelines regarding school food service
- Adheres to all U.S.D.A. guidelines established for the Child Nutrition Program and QACPS policies and procedures
- Assures that standardized recipes, portion controls and procedures for use of leftovers are followed Maintains food quality standards (temperature, appearance and taste) from point of preparation through point of service
- Assists in the daily cleanup of the kitchen and service areas ensuring compliance will all applicable rules and regulations.
- Stocks inventory and assists with inventory activities.
- Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours
- Performs major cleaning of refrigerators, freezer, and storerooms at regularly scheduled intervals
- Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
- Attends In-Service meetings

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Stand for extended periods of time
- Reach overhead and above shoulders to retrieve various items
- Use proper lifting, and pushing and pulling techniques
- Sufficient manual dexterity to use knife and required kitchen equipment
- Ability to work in temperature extremes
Requirements
- Proven work experience as a Food Service Worker or similar role
- Completion of the provided training program
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Basic mathematical skills
- Proficient understanding of food allergies and modified diets
- A high school diploma
