Location: 440 College Park Drive, Monroeville, PA - 15146

Type: 6 months contract on W2

Chemist (Contract)
The Chemist II [Contract] will be a part of the Monroeville Business and Technology Center Photochromics team and involved in the execution of experiments related to product formulation and testing. The goal of this team is to develop new products through fundamental understanding of formulation and application. Specifically, you will work closely with formulators, chemists, and scientists to assist in the growth and development of Transitions products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Following standard operating procedures and industry standards for formula mixing, sample preparation, and testing
  • Precise measurement and mixing of formula ingredients described by a formulation log
  • Preparing test specimens for a variety of tests
  • Creating a collaborative and inclusive work environment
  • Upholding safety standards for the team, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following safety guidelines
  • Documenting and reporting experimental details
  • Keen observation of experimental details and external factors
  • Time management and work efficiency
  • Independently planning and executing all aspects of an experiment following a discussion of objectives with the supervisor
  • Interpreting data and making recommendations for future work


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in material science, chemistry or similar technical field
  • 0-1 year laboratory experience
  • Hands-on experience with formulations and coatings is desired
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to keep track of multiple project tasks


Schedule:

  • Mon-Fri typically 8:00am-5:00pm.
  • Schedule is flexible after the training period with start times between 6:00am-8:00am, working 8 hours/day.
  • Typically no overtime but there may be rare exceptions.


PPE:

  • Any PPE required will be supplied by the client
