Job Overview:

As a Founder in Residence (FIR), you will have the unique opportunity to work within a venture studio or accelerator program, developing and launching new startup ideas from the ground up. This role is designed for entrepreneurial-minded individuals who are passionate about creating and scaling new businesses. You will receive resources, mentorship, and support from experienced investors and operators to turn your innovative ideas into high-growth startups.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ideation and Concept Development:

    • Generate and validate new startup ideas that align with the studio's or accelerator's focus areas.
    • Conduct market research, customer interviews, and competitive analysis to refine concepts and identify product-market fit.
    • Develop business plans, go-to-market strategies, and roadmaps for potential ventures.
  2. Building and Leading Teams:

    • Recruit and manage a team of co-founders, engineers, designers, and other key personnel to develop the startup.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that aligns with the startup's mission and vision.
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the venture, ensuring progress towards key milestones.
  3. Product Development:

    • Lead the design, development, and launch of the minimum viable product (MVP).
    • Work closely with engineers, designers, and product managers to iterate on product features based on user feedback.
    • Ensure the product aligns with market needs and has a clear value proposition.
  4. Fundraising and Financial Management:

    • Prepare and pitch the startup to potential investors, including venture capitalists and angel investors.
    • Develop financial models, budgets, and projections to support fundraising efforts.
    • Manage the startup's financial resources, including overseeing expenses, cash flow, and runway.
  5. Go-to-Market Strategy:

    • Develop and execute marketing, sales, and distribution strategies to acquire early customers and grow the user base.

    • Measure and optimize customer acquisition cost (CAC) and lifetime value (LTV).
  6. Mentorship and Learning:

    • Continuously learn from feedback, iterate on the business model, and pivot as necessary to achieve success.
    • Contribute to the broader entrepreneurial community by sharing insights, lessons learned, and best practices.
  7. Exit Strategy:

    • Work towards a viable exit strategy, whether through acquisition, merger, or further fundraising rounds.
    • Collaborate with investors and stakeholders to determine the best path for scaling or exiting the venture.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Proven track record of entrepreneurship, including founding or scaling startups. Experience in product management, business development, or a related field is highly valued.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. An MBA or other advanced degree is a plus but not required.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
    • Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
    • Ability to work under uncertainty and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
