To support this mission, Syngenta’s Analytics & Data Sciences Team is seeking a Technology Support Lead in Des Moines, Iowa, USA . This role will support the design and development of digital tools and data workflows that enable field scientists to collect, manage, and use high-quality trial data efficiently. This role ensures the reliable operation of data capture applications and the digital pipeline, improves data quality at the source, and provides technical support and continuous enhancements to workflow systems. Ultimately, your work will help transform research operations to accelerate scientific discovery and enable data-driven decisions. Accountabilities Design, develop, and maintain internal digital data tools and web applications for the Crop Protection Field Development team, delivering reliable functionality that meets user needs. Collaborate effectively with product, UX, data owners, and business stakeholders to define requirements, estimate effort, and deliver iteratively in an Agile manner. Ensure operational stability by monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving end-to-end production issues (frontend, API, data, infrastructure) and communicating status/impacts to stakeholders. Perform root-cause analysis and implement preventative improvements to reduce recurring incidents and improve performance, reliability, and maintainability. Manage and maintain digital information systems supporting the team (web applications, team spaces, and technical documentation) to ensure accurate, current, and accessible information. Support and enable the use of field data collection applications and other automated digital data capture solutions, partnering with users to drive adoption and effective use. Implement and uphold secure development and operational practices (access control, data protection) in coordination with IT/security standards. Qualifications Required B.A./B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or an Associate’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience applying software tools. 3+ years building and supporting production applications using Python (services/API) and a modern JavaScript/TypeScript frontend, covering end-to-end feature delivery, releases, and maintenance. 3+ years hands-on experience with relational databases and SQL (querying, schema awareness). Experience deploying and operating applications in AWS (or equivalent cloud) with strong engineering practices: Git-based workflows (GitLab preferred), CI/CD, and secure coding. Ability to design and implement maintainable software across backend and frontend components. Strong capability to troubleshoot production issues end-to-end (frontend, API, data, infrastructure), perform root-cause analysis, and drive preventative improvements. Strong stakeholder communication skills: translate requirements into technical work, explain tradeoffs, and provide clear status/risks. Strong capability with relational databases: write and optimize SQL queries, understand schemas/relationships, and design data access that supports data quality, performance, and maintainability. Familiarity with agricultural digital tools/field operations is a plus.
