We're seeking an experienced Principal Full Stack Applications Developer to provide technical leadership within our Clinical Applications Engineering organization. This role is focused on modernizing the Orders domain , one of the most critical areas of the EHR, supporting clinician workflows surrounding medication ordering, medication management, and acute patient care. This is a highly visible engineering leadership role where you'll influence architecture, lead complex feature development, improve application performance at scale, and help shape the future of AI-assisted software engineering across the organization. Why This Role Matters This position is critical to Oracle Health's EHR Modernization initiative. You will serve as the technical leader for the MedList application, a core Orders workflow component used by clinicians every day. You'll drive modernization efforts, architect new capabilities supporting Acute Care workflows, and improve the scalability and performance of services supporting millions of clinical interactions. In parallel, you'll lead performance engineering initiatives across the Orders Profile plugin and associated backend services while helping establish engineering best practices adopted across the broader organization. Without this role, delivery of key Acute Care enhancements, MedList modernization, and performance optimization initiatives will be significantly delayed, increasing technical debt and reducing the team's ability to deliver against strategic roadmap commitments. What You'll Do Lead Modernization of Critical Clinical Workflows Architect, design, and deliver full-stack capabilities supporting Oracle Health's Orders and Medication Management platform. Serve as Technical Lead for the MedList application, guiding both feature development and long-term architectural direction. Design scalable, cloud-native services supporting clinician workflows across Acute Care environments. Build highly performant backend services while contributing across the entire application stack. Drive Platform Performance Lead performance optimization initiatives for the Orders Profile plugin and supporting services. Identify bottlenecks through profiling, monitoring, and production telemetry. Improve application responsiveness, scalability, resiliency, and operational efficiency. Champion observability and performance engineering best practices across the team. Technical Leadership Serve as the senior technical leader for the MedList engineering team. Lead architecture discussions and technical design reviews. Mentor engineers through design guidance, code reviews, and engineering best practices. Establish standards for maintainability, performance, scalability, testing, and operational excellence. Drive engineering consistency across multiple applications and services. End-to-End Ownership Own solutions from requirements through production deployment and ongoing support. Partner closely with Product Management, UX, Architects, TPMs, and fellow engineering teams. Lead root cause investigations for production issues and implement long-term improvements. Balance feature delivery with technical debt reduction and platform modernization. AI-First Engineering Oracle Health is an AI-first engineering organization. You'll help define how AI accelerates software development by: Using AI-assisted development tools to improve coding productivity. Responsibilities Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience). 6–10+ years of professional software engineering experience. Strong experience building enterprise-scale applications using modern object-oriented languages such as Java. Experience developing modern front-end applications using frameworks such as React, Angular, or similar JavaScript frameworks. Strong understanding of full-stack application architecture and modern web technologies. Deep knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, microservices, scalability, resiliency, and performance optimization. Experience building and supporting cloud-native applications running in containerized environments. Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms. Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex technical initiatives. Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across teams. Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices. Experience optimizing large-scale distributed applications for performance and reliability. Experience designing highly available mission-critical systems. Experience working within highly regulated environments. Experience applying AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies.
