We're a small, fast-growing team that builds workflow applications for public sector clients — replacing manual, fragmented processes with secure, modern software that helps government teams work faster, make better decisions, and serve people more effectively.We are hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer to design, build, and ship these applications end to end. This is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership across front end, back end, APIs, data, integrations, and deployment.This is also an AI-enabled engineering environment. Our developers use tools like Cursor and Claude Code as part of day-to-day delivery — not as novelties, but as force multipliers. We are looking for someone who uses AI to accelerate development without lowering the bar on architecture, testing, security, maintainability, or production quality.What You'll BuildYou'll own the full stack of workflow applications for public sector clients — from responsive interfaces to the APIs, business logic, and data layers that power them:Build workflow applications including intake, review, approval, routing, case management, and reporting experiencesDesign and implement responsive front-end interfaces using React, TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, and CSSDevelop back-end services, APIs, business logic, and integrations using Node.js and/or PythonDesign, model, and optimize data in PostgreSQL and related systems; use MongoDB or document databases where appropriateUse AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude Code) for prototyping, coding, refactoring, testing, and documentationEvaluate and apply agentic AI frameworks and LLM-based patterns where they create real product value — not just because they're trendyCollaborate with product, design, and stakeholders to translate messy real-world business processes into reliable softwareOwn quality through code review, automated testing, debugging, monitoring, and production supportBuild with security, performance, and maintainability in mind — especially in environments serving public sector usersRequired QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science — this is a hard requirement, no exceptions5+ years of professional software engineering experience in full stack, product, or application development rolesTechnicalStrong hands-on experience with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScriptStrong server-side development experience with Node.js and/or PythonExperience designing and building REST APIs; familiarity with GraphQL is a plusStrong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL); familiarity with MongoDB is helpfulExperience with Git, CI/CD workflows, Docker, and cloud deployment — preferably AWSSolid understanding of authentication, authorization, and web security fundamentals including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and OWASP top-10 risks (XSS, CSRF, SQL injection)Working StyleStrong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a small, fast-moving teamAbility to work onsite at least 4 days per week at our office near BWI AirportLocal to the DMV area or willing to relocateStrongly PreferredExperience using AI development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot in day-to-day engineering workFamiliarity with agentic AI frameworks or orchestration tools (LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar)Experience building workflow, case management, or process automation systemsAn active GitHub profile, portfolio, or examples of shipped workA Note on Experience LevelThis opening is primarily targeted at an experienced engineer with 5+ years of professional development work.
